About Employer Engagement

Moving On Tyne & Wear supports individuals who have health barriers to the workplace, by introducing them to training, volunteering, and employment opportunities.

Through mutually-beneficial working relationships with employers, we will unlock the potential of over 1,600 individuals by moving their skills and talents back towards the labour market. The programme’s strength is its participants. Each individual joins us voluntarily, not as a requirement from a statutory body. Ultimately, our participants are hungry individuals, determined to take a chance within the job market.

Who we work with

We work with employers to provide a diverse range of opportunities for participants. Our participants are aged 18+ and face physical or mental health barriers to the workplace.

Through collaborative partnerships, we match the correct individual with the correct employer. With a focus and emphasis on mutually-beneficial relationships, employers can expect hard-working individuals who deliver positive workplace contributions.

Throughout the process, we work closely with participants and employers to ensure the success of any agreed volunteer programme or placement.

How we will work together

Once participants join the programme they are assigned a navigator, who provides the one-to-one support that each individual needs.

Participants work with their navigators to help build on their strengths, whilst the navigator ensures the participant gains access to the correct support from a range of specialist services.

Employer engagement workers work closely with navigators to select the correct training opportunities for participants, before placing them with the right employer.

We communicate regularly with employers to monitor the progress of a participant and to identify any areas of improvement or ideas for similar workplace partnerships in the future.

As well as the core support provided by the navigators and the employer engagement team, we also offer a range of specialist services. This includes:

  • health and wellbeing
  • disability support
  • support with job interviews and writing CVs
  • peer mentor programmes
  • self-employment advice

Ultimately, Moving On Tyne & Wear provides participants with all the support they require throughout their journey, including pre-workplace preparation.
