Moving On Tyne & Wear

South Tyneside project

About us the South Tyneside project

  • Is a health issue a barrier to you seeking training, volunteering, or employment?
  • Would support from specialist workers help you in any of this area?
  • Are you interested in learning and developing new skills?

Moving On Tyne & Wear has a team of specialist workers based in South Tyneside to support you in working towards overcoming health barriers that prevent you from achieving your goal of training, volunteering, or employment.

We will support you with creating a personal action plan which will help you to achieve your goals.

Who we work with

We can support you if:

  • You are a resident of South Tyneside
  • You are aged 18+ and eligible to work in the UK
  • You have been unemployed for a significant period of time
  • You have a physical or mental health issue stopping you from training, volunteering, or working
  • You are worried that you can’t learn new skills

We are committed to helping you to overcome the barriers that have prevented you from finding work or getting training before. We will work hard to make sure you get the support you need as quickly as possible.

How we will work together

Once you are accepted onto the programme you will be assigned a Navigator, who will give you the one-to-one support you need. Your Navigator will be with you every step of the way, reviewing what help you need and ensuring you get the right support from a range of specialist services, helping you build on your strengths.

As you go through the programme, we will ask you to give us feedback so we can improve the service we offer. You could also train to become a peer mentor, offering support to other people in your situation.

The support we offer

As well as the core support provided by your Navigator, we also offer a range of specialist services designed to help you progress towards or into employment. This includes:

  • health and wellbeing
  • specialist employment skills, enterprise, and work experience
  • volunteering
  • disability support
  • employer engagement
  • exit support
  • confidence-building
  • one-to-one work
  • group work
