When Moving On Tyne & Wear launched in 2017, along with our core support, we implemented five innovation projects across each of our geographic focus areas.
In Gateshead, with the support of our partners Changing Lives, the innovation project looked to explore the connection between substance misuse and unemployment through a peer research model.
Moving On Tyne & Wear recruited three programme participants and supported them to train as researchers. They managed and conducted the whole research project, using their own background to improve the relevancy of their findings.
The three researchers have now collated their findings into a report titled, ‘Barriers to Employment for People with Drug and Alchohol Issues and People in Recovery‘ which we’re thrilled to launch this May. This event will showcase the findings of the research through a presentation by the researchers themselves.
