Social Tech Meets bring the social sector together with the tech sector – to promote innovation, collaboration and digital transformation.
We bring together organisations with a social purpose and digital specialists to:
Identify problems that could be solved with new technology
Explore potential technology solutions
Create networking opportunities for people in the social and digital sectors
Bridge the digital divide and build new partnerships
Share learning, resources and good practice
Come along for a drink and some pizza, and have a look around TUSpark – a new city centre incubator space for digital innovation. We’ll be hearing from some inspiring speakers about their digital transformation journey.
The event will run from 6 – 8.30pm and there will be plenty of time for networking.
Our speakers will include Durham Community Action and Andy Cox, Director of Transmit Exterprise CIC.
Andy is spearheading the implementation of SIGNAL in the UK. His previous roles include Human Resource Management in Public Sector, Social Enterprise Consultant, Visiting Lecturer and Professor of Enterprise & Sustainable Health Systems Deusto University, Director of Business Mental Health Matters.
Signal is part of a global poverty elimination movement. The evidenced-based approach recognises that poverty is multi-dimensional and is often hidden behind terms like ‘Social Exclusion’, ‘Complex Lifestyles’ or ‘Troubled Families’.
We know poverty affects every person differently, whether they are living in a family home, in care, or are homeless. That’s why Signal was created as both a metric and a methodology to enable households to assess their level of poverty and to carry out personalised strategies to overcome their specific deprivations. Oh and its Digital!!
