Becoming Visible (BV) is a charity based in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne at the heart of the Deaf Community, BV have been delivering BSL courses for over 12 years and have a team of qualified and experienced teachers who understand not only how to teach but how to make the experience fun and enjoyable for all learners. BV do a lot more than provide BSL courses, to find out more about us please follow us on Facebook, Instagram or visit our website (www.becomingvisible.co.uk).
British Sign Language was recognised as a language within its own right in March 2003, and this session will explore a few parts of BSL such as facial expressions, placement, location and fingerspelling. You will begin to see what makes BSL so different from other languages, even English which many people don’t realise. As this is only a session, we will not be able to discuss some of our topics in great depth, but you will begin to understand how BSL is different and what exactly makes this an interesting and unique language to learn.
The session is perfect for those who have Deaf family/friends, customers, colleagues or for people who are genuinely interested in understanding and learning more about British Sign Language.
There are limited spaces available for each session, so please book now to avoid disappointment.
If you’d like to add your event to our calendar, get in touch.
